The Fire Flame or The Turkish Tulip dates back to at least the early 1800s. A prized rare heirloom, it has a wild form with uniquely narrow yellow flower petals variably edged and prominently tipped scarlet. Each flower opens with its pointed petal tips upward-facing and touching, as if in prayer. As the flowers mature, they open to a wonderfully unruly form.

Species Tulips
Originally from the Mediterranean, Asia Minor and the Caucasus, Species Tulips offer unusual flowers in varying heights and dazzling colors. Known to perennialize better than most tulips, they are wonderful for rock gardens, sweet clusters and naturalized drifts. Top size bulbs: 5 to 6 cm (unless otherwise noted). Plant 4" to 5" deep and 6" apart. Horticultural hardiness and bloom times are dependent on the variety. Height: 3" to 16" depending on the variety.
